Green ideas placed on an interactive online multimedia map of the Rajasthan desert based on GPS tracking already done during a filmmaker's expedition.
The proposed map is a part of the Green Desert Expedition project which combines :
film-making, film-festival, GPS mapping , locative media, psychogeography, new Media, 2 educational workshops , tree plantation, tourism, motorsports and crowdfunding.
The Green Desert Expedition consists of 3 components :
1) The BYOFF Chalchitra Expedition in Rajasthan
2) The Green Desert Map
3) BYOFF, Puri film festival

1) The BYOFF Chalchitra Expedition, 2009 took 25 filmmakers and film students through 2000 kilometres of desert landscape.
2) The Green Desert Map will create a donor map which will combine:
photographs, graphics, video and audio created during the expedition
1000 impactful green ideas
1000 donors of Rs 1000 each
database of contact details, blogs,social networks of participants, donors, idea generators with the aim of networking them to enable multidisciplinary conversations generated by the data presented on the map.
The map will :
a) recoup the funds spent on the expedition as well as generate funds for the BYOFF, Puri film festival through CROWDFUNDING.
As a prototype donor map it will fund three interlinked projects : the expedition, the film festival and the map itself.
b) The BYOFF, Puri will showcase the content created during the expedition.
Note on BYOFF :
Bring Your Own Film Festival (BYOFF) is an annual event held during February every year on Puri beach.
2010 will be the 7th year
Puri is a famous heritage and temple town in Orissa, Eastern India.
BYOFF is a festival without hierarchy, competition, juries and awards.
