Jai Sen is a researcher based in New Delhi, India. An architect by training and first practice, then an activist around the rights of the urban labouring poor, he is now a student of the history and dynamics of movement, local and global. Seeing critical reflection as a potent contribution to building transformative power, his present work is around creating spaces for more critical reflection and action in movement, in different media. Author or editor/co-editor of several books and articles on the World Social Forum and the globalisation of movement, he is presently a Director at CACIM (India Institute for Critical Action : Centre in Movement) and Coordinator of OpenWord.

Jai played a very important role in the first workshop of Maps for Making Change by tracing the various uses of maps in India's history since colonial times, to raise from there a potent set of questions around the politics of mapping that have remained with participants in Maps for Making Change throughout their journey.
