Ringing the Bell: Violence against women and Interventions.
This map is a part of the second phase of Breakthrough's nationwide campaign against domestic violence, Bell Bajao (Ring the Bell) [1] asking men and boys to bring domestic violence to a halt. It is an intensive resource map of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, Breakthrough's [2] intervention states. This map lists verified NGOs, Government Officials, Police Stations, Protection Officers and Advocates who can provide immediate help to women facing violence. In addition, the map traces the routes of our video van as it travels through the country spreading awareness about domestic violence. We are also adding videos and photographs - of people and stories we have encountered in our work, stories of people who have taken action against violence in their societies, testimonials from men and boys and documentation of the various forms of media we use to spread awareness about gender sensitivity. This map also intends to highlight the figures of violence against women in the different states of India, based on NFHS data. The parameters for this would be sex ratio, domestic violence and education.
